ABOUT HYPNOSIS WHY HYPNOTHERAPY WORKS
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS?
Believe it or not, every day you have most probably been in hypnosis at some time without realising it.
Hypnosis is magnified focussed concentration that allows an enhanced ability to respond to suggestion It is a very natural and pleasant state of mind to be in.
When you have focussed concentration on anything that you are fully involved in, your attention to anything else is suspended temporarily. Just like daydreaming.
Some examples of when you may have been in a low state of hypnosis in everyday living are; when you are driving from A to B on a familiar road and when you get to B you don’t remember driving through some of the trip, or watching a movie or a football game that you like and you become totally involved in it, or when you are daydreaming whilst being absorbed reading a book. I bet one of these has happened to you many times.
The focussed concentration that you receive in full hypnosis is magnified and you can then focus on a positive suggestion to improve your life. It is very useful in a multitude of areas to help people succeed better in whatever is important to them.

WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is both physical relaxation and focussed concentration.
In simple terms I like to explain it like this. We basically have two brains, a conscious brain which does about 5% of our brain functions per day. It can do about seven of so things at a time. It’s the one that moves your body parts when you want them moved, like lifting your arm, turning a page, scratching an itch etc. It does what you need to do at the time by request. And then we have our subconscious brain which does the other 95% of our brain functions per day. It can do about 37 trillion things a second. It’s the powerful one that basically runs our lives. It controls every cell in our bodies, it makes our lungs breath, it makes our heart pump etc without even asking it to do so. It’s the one in control.
Inside the subconscious brain is where all our history lies (it knows just about everything that has happened in our life), our memories (good and bad), our habits (good or bad), our beliefs (good or bad) our emotions (good or bad). These deeply held memories, habits, patterns and beliefs are what shapes our decisions and our lives automatically.
This is also where our imagination comes from. In fact, our imagination is the culprit that we need to work with in hypnotherapy because it is the main driver that shapes our lives.
The subconscious brain is quite simple and childlike, in that it does not know the difference between real or false, positive or negative, so whatever it focuses on it will give us. If we focus on negative thoughts, that’s what we are going to get. If we focus on positive thoughts, then that is what we are going to get.
So, to put it simply if we want change or improvement in our life, we have to change the subconscious negative beliefs to positive beliefs. Simple as that.

HOW DOES HYPNOTHERAPY WORK?
Once you have been put in a totally relaxed hypnotised state, your conscious brain will also be in a totally relaxed state, whereas your subconscious brain will stay totally awake and will be amazingly receptive to suggestions.
The hypnotherapists job is to bypass the conscious brain through what we call the critical faculty (sort of like a firewall in a computer) and communicate directly to the subconscious brain. Whilst doing so, messages or positive suggestions can be placed into the subconscious. Those suggestions can be accepted by the subconscious and acted upon as the new reality. This is sort of like rewiring the brain. Of course, these suggestions do need to fit into the moral compass of the person, otherwise they will not be accepted.
Once accepted, the subconscious brain will now communicate those changed beliefs and behaviours to the conscious brain therefore both will be on the same wavelength and positive results will be the outcome.
It’s a very effective and safe way of accessing the power of your subconscious brain and asking it to improve your life.

WHY SHOULD YOU HAVE A HYPNOTHERAPY SESSION?
Because hypnosis is fast and it works. Simple as that.
Hypnosis is a fast life-changing experience, whereas usually a psychiatrist will listen to you explain your issue and prescribe you drugs for quite a long time, usually a psychologist will talk to you about it for quite a long time and usually a doctor will prescribe you drugs to use over a long time. These remedies obviously do work, and I will never tell you to stop using any of these remedies, in fact I prefer to provide you with assistance in conjunction with any professional help that you are receiving, because after all, I am not a doctor, I am a hypnotist. You would need to have the appropriate discussions with your current health providers about your experience with hypnosis.

WHAT THINGS CAN HYPNOSIS HELP WITH?
Apart from the top four that you may already have heard about, like Quit Smoking, Weight loss, Anxiety and Pain there are literally hundreds of things that hypnotherapy can help you with. You would be surprised at the full list. If it’s something that you can think about, its on the list, as your brains control what you think about.
Some of the other main issues that are popular for hypnosis as well are Relaxation, Self Confidence Bad habits, Anger management, Sexual performance, Sleep disorders, Grieving, Healing, Sports performance, Concentration, Bad behaviours, maternity and many more.
